The Dragon City, Sintra

Sintra is the capital of the dragon world. The trees are lofty and the plants giant. There, the dragons from all races (Earth, Water and Fire) come together and unite as one group. Sintra is a mysterious and magical place. Dragons live inside the enormous trees, orbs of light float silently around the city, and Earth dragons harmonize with the foliage to create pathways between the trees.

Green Silk Worm

A poem inspired by the clashing of nature and humanity. (photos by me).

Green Silk Worm

Green worm idiling on a silk thread
Defiant to gravity as it swings across the sky
One glance seen
The next glance gone
A fond memory that is lost but not forgotten
Green silk worm on a shiny thread
Glistening in the last warm rays of the sun
One entity
A harmony between the earth and the trees
A remedy to the soul
Silent
And awaiting with eager eyes
Wanting the old connections to be made
Green silk worm
Greed
Gluttony
Residing in the heart
A defined part of the mind
Touching the light
Despite the warning signs
Breaking the thread that ties two worlds together
Green silk worm
Falling
As the light fades
Into the open mouth

Of the grass weed

Birds

I'm a bit bird obsessed. Here are some pictures I took of birds from around the world.

Florida bird (we named him Harold).

Here's Harold again

I love the blue eyes on this one

Some wild parrots in a palm tree

This is a Takahe. There are only a few left in the world. We got the rare opportunity to see one in New Zealand.

This little guy wanted my food when I was in Queenstown

A lovely looking pigeon from D.C.

This is probably my favorite picture. I took it in Colorado at the Garden of the Gods

This is my son. His name is Rocky.

We Didn't Notice

A poem about the environment

We Didn't Notice
By: Grace Forciea

We didn't notice
as we were driving on the freeway
every morning
the land disappearing slowly
year after year
we didn't notice
our favorite wildlife thinning out
and not returning
we blamed it on migration
not an immigration up to heaven
we didn't notice
the gas guzzlers
pumping black smoke into the air
we didn't notice
we just went about our days
eating
drinking
sleeping
we didn't notice
that our food and our water
was a bother to our bodies
and the substance in our apples
wasn't natural or "organic"
we didn't notice
that organic became a title for something real
we didn't notice
that the trees lost their leaves
during the summer and fell over in the winter
black cancer growing on their branches and eating at their cores
we didn't notice
that guns replaced text books and killing was a solution to a problem
like mass shootings minus a revolution
would solve everything
we didn't notice
that green grass grew where snow melted in December
we didn't notice
that every winter turned into spring
and the hum of bulldozers
could be heard over the horizon
we didn't notice
that the world was becoming a swimming pool with no lifeguards
and a flame was growing in the souls of every forest,
spreading until existence was a lost trend
in a dying world

Fire King

This is a poem that I wrote after watching the sunrise one morning in the woods.

Fire King
By: Grace Forciea

The colors die as the sun rises
higher in the air
a trumpet fanfare for a Fire King
a ring of reds and oranges
dancing in the winter crisp
bit by the beauty bug
shrugging off cloaks of golden silk
and Ruby blood pulsing through wild veins
rushing to the brain
a pin prick of pain
as we strain to touch the power of the sun
wishing to be one with the sky
lifted feet off the grey ground
floating with pink clouds around the world
handing sunrises to solemn people
and announcing the arrival of
new beginnings to a new day
And at night when the light
dwindles and fades
the gasp of infinity will fill the atmosphere
and a glance upward into the darkness
will take you away to a place where
sunrises are announced with the bringing of life
to replace the hues of fanfare.

Silent Beauty Poem

I just finished uploading my first poem to YouTube. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtdK18EC0Is

Away to New Places

I've been away for a while on my trip to New Zealand but I have returned. It was quite the trip, I saw the rare Takahe bird species, went bungee jumping headfirst off the worlds tallest cliff jump and traveled to some amazing places that have inspired me to reshape the landscape in my novel Dalith. Enjoy some of these pictures I took during my trip.
